Our Landscape Design Process

Below, we give a more detailed description of our landscape design process

Our Detailed Landscape Design Process

  1. Online Questionnaire:  For the client to fill out.
  2. Onsite Visit:  For Photographs, Videos, And Discussion Of The Project
  3. Design Vision: (summary of information received either from meeting with the client, notes, and of course the completed questionnaire from our client) Following the collection of information, the design team synthesizes and analyzes the data to create a clear and comprehensive design vision document. This step ensures alignment between your desires and the design process.
  4. Drone Survey: (digitally overlayed marked up and annotated document over a satellite/drone image) A survey of the project site will be conducted utilizing drone imagery/satellite imagery gathered from your site. This notes topography, existing features, and other site-specific factors, along with a bubble diagram indicating some initially proposed features. This data is essential for informed decision-making during the design process.
  5. Conceptual Design: (an unrendered often black and white plan drawing depicting a rough draft of the proposed features and elements in the design) Incorporating insights from the design vision and questionnaire, the design team will develop a preliminary design concept based on the gathered information, including topography, existing features, and other site-specific factors noted in the drone survey. They will explore different layout options, spatial arrangements, and design elements to visualize the potential of the landscape project. Once they choose the best options, you can expect a single concept plan drawing!
    1. Revision: After reviewing the preliminary design concepts in light of feedback from and internal assessments, the design team will refine and revise the proposed plans. Incorporating suggestions and adjustments, they are ensuring that the design aligns seamlessly with your vision, functional requirements, and aesthetic preferences, as outlined in the design vision, questionnaire responses, and drone survey findings.
  6. Master Plan: (A rendered, often color plan drawing depicting a comprehensive drawing of the proposed features and elements in the design) Building upon the refined conceptual design, the design team will develop a comprehensive master plan. This plan integrates all finalized design elements, incorporating details from the drone survey and revisions made during the conceptual design phase. It includes a plant and material palette as well as an estimate document highlighting project costs, providing a clear blueprint for the implementation of the landscape project.
  7. Design Presentation: (A compiled design package, often featuring a rendered, color plan drawing encompassing the proposed features and elements in the design) The design team will assemble a Design presentation, which serves as a compilation of all the documents into one (called a design package). This will include all the documents previously produced, namely the design vision, drone survey, master plan, construction plan, plant and materials palette, estimate, plant schedule, plant care guide, and a project installation document.

These steps collectively form a structured approach to landscape design, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and successful project outcomes.
